An Eerie Heirloom: For the sole purpose of
financial gain, Mr. Monet, the Arles Hotel
manager, and Roger, the bellhop, have devised a
system of extorting funds by exposing the
contents of a mysterious black box -- thus
scaring their hotel guests into paying arrears.
However, they both receive the jolt of their
lives when a mysterious guest calls from one of
the rooms and requests room service. When the
bellhop finally becomes propositioned with fifty
thousand dollars for the contents of the box he
eagerly accepts, with the promise that he should
keep the transaction a secret.
After hastening down-stairs and hiding in a
lady's room stall the hotel detective, hot on the
trail, catches the bellhop in the act of counting
the money. With the intentions of a possible
arrest, detective La Roache assists him down to
the lobby where he notifies the manager of the
alleged theft. But the detective also receives
the surprise of his career when the twosome
confess that they had been collecting money from
the hotel guests by shocking them into paying
back rent. The detective becomes flabbergasted
when told that the reason the guests became so
terrified was because the black metal box they
had been brandishing contained something, not
only frightening, but quite repugnant.
Silverdust For Fuel: When Poor Paul, a
Harley-Davidson bike rider down on his luck
becomes insulted and thrown out of his favorite
hangout, Brandon's Bar & Billiard Parlor, he
considers himself a loser. After running out of
gas again, this time out in the country, he meets
a mysterious stranger who promises there won't be
any need to buy gas for his trusty old
motorcycle, "Julie," ever again.
Inevitably, the stranger introduces the biker to
a magic vapor called Silverdust, which, together,
they hoist from a deep, stone well.
After this experience Poor Paul's life becomes
completely reversed. He becomes a different man
with high hopes, money and, especially - endless
gas. Upon seeing evidence of this vapor, this
"forever gas," the heroic biker is
entered into the honor roll of "The
Lakeshore Wheelers" motorcycle club.
The Insemination of Ognol: On the twelfth
floor of the luxury co-op building located on
East 76th Street, New York City, Ana and Edward,
a limousine driver, get in the mood for a friends
birthday party. With music of the 90's resounding
against the sliding glass doors they enjoy a few
laughs as Edward feeds the nervous fish some
caviar. Upon returning at 5:00 A.M. they find the
fish lying dead in a pool of water and broken
glass on the floor. Then, later that evening
after many hours of sleep, they are awakened by
noises coming from the kitchen. To their
amazement they are confronted by a stranger of
oceanic nature at their refrigerator claiming
that he had become a byproduct of the caviar.
The couple becomes spellbound as the stranger
explains, in incredible detail, his multiple
incarnations and experiences with the powers of
the supernatural spirit. The stranger continues
to mesmerize them as he claims that he has come
to earth to deliver the gift of immortality. For
example, one of his predictions is that human
beings will be able to traverse anywhere in the
universe - even as far as 2.2 million light years
away.
You Can't Do Wrong and Get By: The
McKeehan family lived on the second floor of the
shabby, two-family home in Montauk, Long Island.
Since they had no running water, Daniel, their
nine-year-old boy had to go across the street and
pump drinking water from their neighbor.
Although it was 1980, the family was so poor they
still had to resort to using an old outhouse,
located in the back yard. Snow flurries had begun
swirling to the point they were now beginning to
stick to the windows. Even during the winter
months, Jean McKeehan had to hang the wash from
the porch, where the clothes became so stiff she
froze her fingers pulling in the clothesline and
removing the clothespins.
This particular, cold winter morning the
sensitive, button-nosed woman shut off the alarm,
scampered to her feet, and tossed her dyed-black
hair into an upsweep. Pressing her lips together
as she put up the kettle for coffee, the Irish
mother of two sons separated the makeshift
curtain leading from the kitchen to the living
room. In the living room, where Daniel slept, it
was so cold there seemed frost on the edge of her
Irish accent as she spoke.
